Jon Hughes is Chairman and CEO of Petrie Partners. Prior to co-founding Petrie Partners with Mike Bock and Andy Rapp, Jon was Head of Investment Banking at Petrie Parkman & Co. and a member of its Board of Directors when the firm merged into Merrill Lynch / Bank of America in 2006.

Jon began his energy investment banking career in 1986 in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group of The First Boston Corporation (now Credit Suisse / UBS), working in New York City and the Asia-Pacific region. Jon joined Petrie Parkman at its founding and opened its Houston office in 1989. Jon has advised numerous public, private and governmental clients in more than 200 successful energy transactions with aggregate value in excess of $250 billion. Jon’s primary expertise is in counseling boards of directors and other key decision-makers in complex M&A and other strategic situations. Jon has also advised on a large number of natural resources asset transactions and restructurings.

Jon earned his B.S. degree (high honors) in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin.
